2007 11th Annual Icebreaker Youth Basketball Tournament

***TOURNAMENT RULES AND REMINDERS***

1) PLAYING RULES: National Federation High School rules in effect unless stated otherwise.

2) GAME CLOCK: Each game consists of two twenty -minute running halves. The clock will stop at the last one minute of the first half. "Stop clock" will be used only during the last two minutes of the second half, if the score differential is within 15 points, otherwise the game clock will continue to run.

3) OVERTIME/SUDDEN DEATH: Overtime game consists of one two-minute stop clock. In the event of a second overtime, if will be "sudden death", with no game clock involved. The first team to score two (2) points will be declared the winner. Overtime and sudden death game will start with a jump ball.

4) TIMEOUTS: Each team is allowed three full-time outs per game during regulation play. One time out is allowed for the first overtime and one for the sudden death period. Timeouts, however, is not cumulative nor carried over.

5) FORFEIT TIME: Generally, game time is forfeit time. However, a 10 minute grace period may be offered. The clock will run up to 10 minutes before a forfeit is declared. Also, one point will be awarded to the offended team for every one minute consumed up to 10 points where a forfeit will be officially declared. A team must have at least four players to start a game. PLEASE NOTE THAT ANY TEAM THAT FORFEITS A GAME DUE TO A "NO-SHOW" WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO PARTICIPATE IN THEIR RESPECTIVE PLAYOFF/SINGLE-ELIMINATION ROUNDS. Therefore, it's the responsibility of each coach to get his or her team on time and ready to play. Please arrive at least 15 minutes early.

6) BALL SIZE: All girls and  4 & 5th gr. boys divisions will use the Women's size basketball (28.5). All 6 th-8th grade boys divisions will use the Men's size ball (29.5).

7) FULL-COURT PRESS RULE: There is to be NO full-court press by a team who is ahead, if the difference in score is 10 points or greater. Referee will first give a verbal warning to the coach, one per team per half, and then assessed technical fouls thereafter. Two shots plus possession of the ball at the division line will be awarded as result of the rule infraction.

8) PLAYER ELIGIBILITY: Players must be on your official roster-waiver form prior to participation. Changes cannot be honored once your first game has started without approval from tournament director. Players may only play for one team and may not play down a grade . Penalty: Forfeiture of games played and possible disqualification from tournament play.

9) SPORTSMANSHIP: Good sportsmanship will be held to a premium. Any ejection, by a player or coach, will be accompanied by a one game suspension. Players or coaches with two ejections will be automatically disqualified and banned from further participation. COACHES: You are responsible for the conduct of your players and spectators. Please display good sportsmanship at all time. No exceptions!!!

10) SCORE AND TIME KEEPTING DUTIES: Each team must provide one person to keep the official game scorebook or game clock for each of their scheduled game.

11) BRACKETING/SEEDING: It's the responsibility of the coaches to check where they seed after pool play. A master score sheet and schedule will be posted at the game site. Scores, win-loss records and other important information will be updated on our tournament website (
www.icebreakerbasketball.com) periodically. Please contact one of our gym supervisors should you have any questions.

12) POOL PLAY TIEBREKERS: If teams are tied at the conclusion of pool play (when a team that is scheduled 4 pool or cross-pool games, only the first three games (three different opponents) will be used into the tiebreakers , the tiebreakers are as follows: 
      1. Head-to-head competition between the two tied teams.

      2. In the case of three tied teams, the first tiebreaker is head-to-head competition.  The next tiebreaker is     the amount of points lost by in each of the tied teams' loss or losses.

      3. If teams are still tied after the second tiebreaker, the following will be use: Two teams (head-to-head); Three teams   (strength of schedules or randow draw).

13) SPECIAL 4TH-5TH GR. RULES: 5th gr. divisions will play with the following modified rules: 1) Teams must play man-to-man defense (you may double team if offensive ball dribbler/shooter is in the paint area) during the first half of the game (warnining for first violaion and technical fouls thereafter); 2) Teams may full-court press or play zone defenses in the 2nd half or OT period only. The purpose of these special rules are to allowed these young players an opportunity to develop their game at least during one half of the game. Please call if you have any questions.  The 28.5 size ball will be used in all girls and 4th-5th gr. boys divisions.    

14) ADMISSION FEE: In lieu of a daily admission fee, each family is asked soccer related sporting goods for our "Kick for Kids" soccer drive to be donated overseas. Please encourage your parents and spectators to donate especially during this time of the year.
